What to put on your XENEON EDGE
The Edge is a 14.5 inch, 2560 x 720 touchscreen that lives under your monitor, so the best widgets are things you glance at or tap without leaving what you are doing. Here is what tends to earn a permanent spot, built-in and custom.
Keep an eye on your PC
iCUE comes with three sensor widgets. Sensor List packs in the most readings, 2 Sensors is the at-a-glance one, and Sensor Chart draws a live graph of a single sensor. There is also an FPS readout, and a free Ping widget on the Elgato Marketplace shows ping, packet loss and the min, max and average.
Sound and media
The Volume widget shows every audio source on your PC with a slider each, which is the touchscreen at its best. Turn the meeting down and the music up without opening the system tray. The Media and YouTube widgets handle playback, and YouTube can run a whole playlist.
Buttons and chat
- Stream Deck. The Stream Deck widget turns the Edge into a Stream Deck with up to a 4 x 8 grid of buttons and more pages behind it. Dial actions are the one thing it cannot do.
- Twitch Chat. Reading and answering chat on the Edge, especially in vertical orientation, keeps it off your main screen.
- Windows Notifications. Alerts stay put in a scrolling list instead of flashing by.
Time, date and weather
iCUE has Clock Face, Calendar and Weather widgets built in. If you want a clock with some personality, Code Rain Clock puts the time on top of falling digital rain, and Tide Clock shows the live tide for your beach with a countdown to the next high.
Something alive to look at
A screen under your monitor is the perfect spot for something that moves on its own. Aquascape is a reef tank you can feed and decorate, with bubbles that follow your PC load, and Ant Empire is an ant colony that keeps digging over real days.
A game for the wide strip
The full-width slot is long enough for a side-on game. Broadside is a two-ship artillery duel you play by dragging back and letting go, against the CPU or a friend.
Or use it as a monitor
The Edge does not need iCUE to work as a plain extra display. Spotify, Discord or Teams fit it well, and you can flip between monitor and widgets with a hotkey. See switching modes.
Questions
Are XENEON EDGE widgets free?
The built-in iCUE widgets and the Corsair-made widgets on the Elgato Marketplace are free. Community makers also sell paid widgets there.
Can I build my own widget?
Yes. A widget is a folder with an index.html and a manifest.json, written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Elgato publishes the full spec at docs.elgato.com/icue/widgets.
